Traditional Karate in Merrickville

Build confidence, improve fitness and learn traditional karate in a friendly, supportive environment. All ages and abilities are welcome.

A New Karate Club for Merrickville

A new traditional Itosu-Kai karate club is opening in Merrickville under the direction of Chief Instructor Marc Lamadeleine. Classes will welcome students of all ages, whether they are completely new to martial arts or have previous karate experience.

Rooted in the traditions of Itosu-Kai, training brings together fundamental techniques, kata, partner work and controlled sparring. Students develop strength, flexibility, coordination and endurance while learning skills they can build upon over time.

The club will offer a positive and respectful environment where students can challenge themselves, work toward personal goals and become part of a growing local karate community. Along the way, training helps develop discipline, respect, resilience, focus and confidence—qualities that extend far beyond the dojo.

Meet Your Instructor

Marc began karate in 2014, initially looking for a new challenge and never expecting it to become such an important part of his life. He soon developed a deep appreciation for karate and the traditions and values it represents.

After participating in his first tournament in Toronto, Marc made new friends and was introduced to the wider Itosu-Kai community across Canada. The experience opened his eyes to the depth of the organization and its strong sense of connection and belonging.

Over the years, Marc progressed through the coloured belt ranks, earning his first-degree black belt with the Deep River Karate Club and his second-degree black belt with the Long Sault Karate Club.

His journey has been challenging, rewarding and filled with opportunities to learn and grow. Marc now looks forward to continuing his own training while helping students of all ages develop discipline, respect, resilience, focus and confidence through traditional Itosu-Kai karate.
